Description

hey all, this is me cosplaying an ODST. Its based partially from the Landfall short film version and partially on the game version. I plan to modify it later on to be more accurate to the Landfall version. Its all fiberglass, with some of the under suit made from various fabrics. All made myself.

Cosplay Questions
Name: Rowan, also known as 'the halo guy' to many con goers thanks to my multiple Halo cosplays.

Gender: Male

Location: Ballarat, Victoria (about an hour out of Melbourne)

When did you start cosplaying? end of 08

What was your first cosplay? Master Chief from the Halo series.

How did you get into cosplay? I saw other cool costumes at cons, then found a site about making fiberglass armour and jumped right into the deep end of cosplaying and props. From there i delved into anime and learned how to sew.

Do you prefer cosplaying male or female characters?
Male, i wouldnt exactly suit crossplaying...

How many cosplays have you done?
8 completed, many more on the way.

What are your favorite cosplays that you've done? Tough choice, its between master chief for being such a recognizable character, ODST for being my first armour suit i did completely from scratch, and Spike for just being something i can wear without any effort, yet still be a recognizable character.

Are you part of a cosplay group? If so, tell me about your group. Sort of, if you count the ballarat anime club cosplayers as a cosplay group :D

What do you prefer to do, make or buy your costumes? Make as much as possible, and go to extraordinary lengths to do so.

How much time do you usually spend making a costume? can be anything from 8 months (master chief and ODST) to a few days (Hige, Aoshi, Vincent). It doesnt help that i tend to procrastinate to much.

What is your dream cosplay? Come to first round WCS in sydney and find out :D

Which conventions do you usually attend? All of them in Victoria and in 2010 i will be branching out to most of the cons in sydney and a few in brisbane.

Your most memorable cosplay experience? What makes it so memorable?
Winning my first cosplay comp with my first cosplay. Master Chief at Armageddon 08. It wasn't so much winning the cosplay comp, but the thousands of photos taken of me and the look i put on everyone's face when they saw the master chief walking towards them.

seeing how i'm planing to use the helmet for airsoft wouldn't it be better to put in a mesh visor in stead of plastic, unless you used airsoft resistant plastic.
